US packaging: Lovenox is sold as individual vials.
European packaging: Lovenox is packaged in boxes of 2 or 10 vials. In some countries Lovenox is called Clexane.
Lovenox Uses and Side Effects
Lovenox Uses & Indications:
Lovenox / Clexane’s Immunomodulator and anti-inflammatory effect is thought to reduce the localised inflammation in the uterus and decrease the risk of implantation failure and early pregnancy loss. It is often used in sequence with immunotherapy medications such as prednisolone or dexamethasone with the aim to help with implantation and avoid micro clots at the implantation site and may increase production of substances involved in successful implantation. Due to the lack of high quality research regarding the use of Lovenox in ART, the overall effect of its use is uncertain (though considered safe).
Lovenox Side Effects:
Common Lovenox side effects include: Pain, bruising or irritation at the injection site after administration; hard inflamed nodules at the injection site; itchy red rash at the injection site; bleeding at the injection site. Lovenox can also cause diarrhea, nausea and headaches.
Serious Lovenox side effects include. Anemia, bloody urine, confusion, decreased blood platelets, fever, fluid retention in the legs, feet, arms or hands or hemorrhage of blood under the skin. Contact your doctor for advice if you experience any of these side effects.
Sanofi warns that pregnant people who have prosthetic heart valves should be cautious when using Lovenox, as it may result in valve thrombosis.
