Your Right to your Prescription

IVFPharmacy has been receiving prescriptions from US clinics for 20 years. Most customers do not encounter any problems getting hold of their prescription, but if there are any issues, you should know where you stand.
As a patient, you have the right to access your medical records, including prescriptions. This right is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). However, there might be some limitations or conditions depending on the specific circumstances and state laws.
Here are some key points to remember:
- HIPAA gives patients the right to access their health information, which includes prescriptions.
- Some states have specific laws regarding access to or sending of prescriptions. It is important to remember that these rules are designed to protect consumers – not restrict them. For example, if a state requires electronic prescriptions, the law also allows paper copies to be given to the patient when they wish to order out of state.
- There may be a reasonable timeframe for fulfilling the request.
- While you have the right to access your prescription, healthcare providers may need to take steps to protect your confidential information, such as requiring a password to access the RX or requiring registration to their website.
In most cases, a conversation with the clinic explaining that you are entitled to a copy of your prescription under HIPAA and State law will suffice.
If you have any problems obtaining your prescription, please reach out to us and we will be happy to assist.
